Who we are
DLD8 is operated as a sole trader business under the trading name DLD8. We are the data controller for the personal data you provide through this website and any associated services.
DLD8 is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to David Lloyd Leisure Ltd. in any way.

What data we collect
When you sign up to the DLD8 waitlist, we collect the following personal data:
- Your name (optional)
- Your email address
- Your David Lloyd home club
- Your intended use of the platform (Date mode, Mate mode, or Both)
- Your gender identity and the gender(s) you are interested in meeting — collected only from users who select Date or Both mode. Please note, this data may reveal or imply your sexual orientation, which is classified as Special Category Data under the UK GDPR.
We do not collect any financial data, sensitive health information, or data from minors. DLD8 is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
Why we collect it and our legal basis
We collect and process your personal data for the following purposes:
- To notify you when DLD8 launches at your club — legal basis: consent. You have explicitly opted in by completing the waitlist form and ticking the consent checkbox.
- To send you a confirmation email — legal basis: consent, as above.
- To understand demand by club and user type — legal basis: legitimate interests. We use aggregated, anonymised data to inform product development decisions. This does not involve sharing identifiable data with any third party.
Processing Special Category Data: Because our waitlist form captures dating preferences that may infer sexual orientation, we rely on your Explicit Consent under Article 9(2)(a) of the UK GDPR to process this information. You provide this by checking the dedicated sensitive data permission box on our signup form, and you can withdraw this consent at any time.
We do not sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose your personal data to third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
Third-party services we use
To operate this website and deliver our services, we use the following third-party data processors. Each is bound by a data processing agreement and required to protect your data in accordance with UK GDPR.
How long we keep your data
We will retain your waitlist data until one of the following occurs:
- You request removal by contacting admin@dld8.co.uk — we will process your request within 30 days
- DLD8 launches and the waitlist period ends — at that point your data will either be migrated to the main platform with your consent, or securely deleted
- We determine that the platform will not launch — in which case all personal data will be securely deleted within 30 days of that decision
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
Access
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure
Request that we delete your personal data (the right to be forgotten).
Restriction
Ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
Objection
Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent
Withdraw your consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, email admin@dld8.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days. If you are dissatisfied with how we handle your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Cookies
This website does not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. The only data stored in your browser is what is strictly necessary for the website to function during your session. No third-party cookies are set by this website.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted database storage, row-level security policies, and HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Access to stored waitlist data is restricted to the data controller only.
No method of data transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take all reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data transmitted to or from this website.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Where changes are material, we will notify waitlist members by email. Continued use of this website following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
